Removal Expenses

If you have moved home to take up your new post with the City Council you may be entitled to removal expenses. Your existing home must normally be more than 20 miles from your new base and within the city boundary to take advantage of this scheme.


The Local Government Pension Scheme is available to all Sheffield City Council employees. It is a final salary pension scheme providing excellent benefits, including:

  • Index linked retirement pension
  • Tax free lump sum based on the final years' salary
  • Ill health retirement benefits

    The scheme is protected by statutory regulation of the government, currently employees pay 6% of pensionable earnings, accompanied by a generous contribution from the Council.

Maternity Leave
