We work in partnership with parents, the community, and other stakeholders. This enables us to build strong relationships with our parents, allows us to play an active part in our community and builds on our reputation as a centre of excellence in the City of Sheffield and beyond.

We are for each other - Handsworth Grange School is an inclusive school and a caring school. We wish the very best for all of our pupils and we do our very best to support them on their journey to becoming lifelong learners.

We are an improving school. OfSTED has recognised that we are improving all of the time. Handsworth Grange School has the potential to become one of the best schools in Sheffield and we want to work with you to reach this target.

SPORTS HALL

The new sports hall and fitness suite at Handsworth Grange School was opened by Richard Caborn MP, Minister for Sport and Tourism on Friday 26 November 2004. The project cost £2 million to complete, and was funded by Sport England (£1.5 million) and Sheffield City Council (£0.5 million).

The new hall boasts four badminton courts, a full-sized basketball court, a large trampoline rig, and cricket equipment. There are also modern changing and washing rooms, office space, and rooms available for hire by members of the community.

Councillor Angela Smith, Cabinet Member for Education said: "It is really important that children have access to a wide range of good quality sports and exercise facilities so that they can take part in activity they enjoy. We are doing a lot of work across the city to improve facilities and access to facilities for the whole community."

A grant from the Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI) has enabled the school to ensure all its new facilities can be used by disabled people. The machines are easily adaptable, and feature large, brightly-coloured buttons to help partially-sighted people.

Handsworth Grange School will work with the local Primary Care Trust (PCT) in the hope of becoming the second specialist site in the city for rehabilitating people who have suffered from disease such as strokes and heart problems.

The school hopes the new sports hall and fitness suite will encourage children to participate in sport, which will help tackle health and obesity problems. The school also believes it will provide children with lifelong interests.
