Dearne Valley College can trace its origins back to the Mechanics Institute in Wath. It first became a college of further education in 1976 when Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council established the Rockingham College of Further Education. It was renamed Dearne Valley College in September 1996 when a new £7.5 million development was opened on the site of the former Manvers colliery. We celebrated the 10th anniversary of the new building this year.
