CONSUMABLES BUYER

LOCATION: Barnsley

SALARY AND BENEFITS: £20,000-£25,000

COMPANY INFORMATION:

- A family organisation who operate on a global basis with over 20 sites
- With year on year growth they are experts in their field.

YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

- Degree or HND in Business, Engineering or Purchasing related
- Purchasing experience in sourcing new products with responsibility for achieving set targets
- Experience working in a high volume manufacturing environment utilising a world wide supplier base
- A proven track record in purchasing, cost negotiation and cost analysis in a team environment

IDEALLY YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

- Experience of electronics
- A working knowledge of MRP and Kanban systems
- A good team player with the ability to solve problems and deal with pressure
- Excellent communication skills within a supply chain capacity
- Knowledge of SAP
- Previous experience in working with Lean principles and ISO standards
- Experience in reading technical drawings and managing consignment stock will be an advantage

ROLE INFORMATION:

- Responsibility for sourcing/buying all non production related items in line with budgets, this includes, equipment, services and spares
- Implement material and procurement strategy for new suppliers ensuring that parts are sourced effectively
- Select companies that meet technical, quality and commercial requirements in line with purchasing strategy
- Negotiate contracts for new parts, ensuring best price, service and contractual terms are agreed
- Communicate with the global purchasing team internally
- This role includes a small element of inventory control
