A prominent supplier of steel and metal products are looking for a Cost Accountant to join their team.
The role will be to produce accurate costings on the company's machining facilities by site and by group of equipment by analysing all aspects of the business, in particular sales, new product development proposals, gross margin, operational variances, and labour unit costs so as to understand product and customer profitability. You will communicate this information to the Management Team in a timely manner and drive appropriate actions.
Specifically the role is;
- To provide detailed cost information not supplied by general accounting systems.
- Analyse actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic report comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
- Plan study and collect data to determine costs of business activity, such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labour.
- To guide the Operations and Commercial teams on such aspects of purchasing new equipment, new product proposals, profitability of accounts.
- Ensure that changes in products design, raw materials, manufacturing are captured so as to safeguard the future business profitability.
- To provide impartial advice to the Management Team and Executive Team on costings.
- To be key contributor to developing business strategy and business plans in line with cost analysis information.
The successful candidate will either be a qualified Accountant or qualified by experience including previous product costing knowledge from within a fast moving manufacturing environment. Or experience at a similar level in management accounting. You should have exposure to financial accounting with highly developed analytical and communication skills, self driven with a natural curiosity to find and question how the business operates. You should also have excellent Excel skills.
