Our client currently has a number of vacancies for full-time Legal Helpline Advisors to work within their expanding Legal Advice Centre based in their Sheffield office. A significant part of the role will involve delivering general preliminary advice to clients over the telephone, recording information on dedicated case management software, undertaking legal research, assisting in resolving issues relating to insurance claims and initiating legal expenses claims on behalf of callers. The post-holder will be working in a team-based environment and will need to demonstrate that they take a calm, polite, professional and positive approach to all calls. Post-holders need to ensure they work to agreed protocols to assess a caller’s situation and successfully manage client expectations. A structured training programme is provided to develop these skills although applicants will be expected to show they currently possess initiative, excellent telephone skills with the ability to communicate at all levels, are used to working under pressure in a busy office environment and have good organisational, IT and administration skills. Previous experience in a similar role is desirable. Over time candidates can expect to develop one or more speciality subject areas of legal expertise and be involved in preparing and maintaining library, advice and training materials. In addition, there may also be opportunities to act as a mentor to new team members and to participate in the induction and training for the legal advice team. Previous legal experience and a good standard of education are essential. Candidates who have completed the LPC, but are not necessarily looking for a training contract would be considered as would candidates with a law degree or post graduate legal qualification. Consideration would also be given to candidates who have completed at least Part1 of the ILEX qualification and have some case handling experience. The Legal Advice Centre handles calls for clients addressing issues on any matters of English, Scottish or Northern Irish Law therefore candidates transferring from Scottish or Northern Irish to English Law are of particular interest. Applications from candidates who are transferring to Law from Accountancy backgrounds would also be of interest as the helpline provides tax advice. This is a full time position, although you will be working on a 10 week rolling rota whereby you will be expected to cover some evenings/weekends.
