Reports to: Business Support Manager & Operations Managers/ Project Managers.
Summary of Position:
· Optimize the corporate profitability by maximizing revenue and minimizing costs on each project.
· Ensure awareness of contractual obligations and commercial aspects within project teams.
· Forecasts, control, monitor and report upon cost and revenue internally and externally.
· Adhere to commercial procedures and practices.
· Optimize corporate cash flow position.
· Uphold the corporate Purpose, Vision and Values in all dealings.
· When required by the size of project or group of projects, to efficiently and effectively control, manage, guide and develop a team of commercial personnel.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
· Be familiar with Tender/ Contract, make all project team aware of obligations and endeavor to ensure that these are adhered to.
· Make project team aware of commercial arrangements and their part in the processes.
· Work to the company procedures
· Support PM’s in all contractual and commercial matters and prompt/ urge action when necessary to protect the company position.
· Assist the Pm’s to produce, control and monitor internal monthly Project Performance Reports and any other necessary for the proper control of the project.
· Assist Pm’s in the production, monitoring and reporting of their Budgets.
· Produce, control and monitor externally to customers any agreed commercial reports.
· Ensure that all elements of costs are properly coded including labour timesheets, project management, purchase requisitions, etc.
· Place sub-contracts, certify their payments and process their final accounts.
· Prepare process, agree valuation with clients and ensure maximum payment is received promptly to optimize profitability and cash flow.
· Ensure adequate project filing systems are set up and monitored.
· Assist MP’s in producing all necessary risk management exercises and project commercial strategies.
· Ensure that efficient and/or productivity controls are in place and reported upon as necessary.
· Provide commercial input to close out report if requested by PM.
· Ensure that on project completion any necessary files are properly achieved.
· Control and direct and sub-contract personnel efficiently.
· When required by the size of a project or a group of projects, efficiently and effectively control, manage, guide and develop a team of commercial personnel.
· Ensure that all Contracts, Purchase orders, etc., received from clients correspond to the tendered position and that all corporate edicts on terms and conditions are satisfied.
· Ensure that all necessary Contract terms and/ or rate renewals with existing Contracts are dealt with in a timely manner and are subject to the necessary internal approvals.
Qualifications and Experience
· Members of Institute of Cost Engineers or member of RICS.
· At least five years experience in quantity surveying/ cost engineering in the construction industry.
· Some supervisory experience
· Proficient IT skills
