Our client a Public Sector body committed to maintaining effective financial management arrangements has the opportunity for a Lead Financial Adviser to join their Financial Services team on a fixed term contract running from 30th June until March 2009.
Reporting to the Finance Director in a support role, the successful candidate will promote quality decision making through financial advice and raising financial awareness, maximise the benefits achieved from the SAP system financials and general corporate support in the aim for excellence.

Day to day duties and responsibilities will include:
Assisting the Financial Director with the provision of strategic financial advice to officers, members and other clients as required.
Leadership, supervision, direction and training of the relevant service accountancy team including managing priorities and deadlines to achieve agreed programmes.
Preparation of detailed revenue and capital budgets for designated services in liaison with budget holders at all levels & in accordance with approved guidelines and standards.
To maintain relationships with external auditors, prepare statutory accounts, prepare tax returns.

The successful candidate will be CCAB qualified with a minimum 5 years experience in a financial services environment. They will have experience of preparation and monitoring of complex revenue and capital budgets, with experience of providing financial support services within a service environment and the ability to effectively lead teams and/or projects. You will be pro-active in your approach to work with proven problem solving skills, possess good, solid IT skills and will have the desire to further develop your career.

In return for your skills we are offering a competitive rate of pay throughout the contacted period, working hours will be Monday-Friday 0845-1745. Applicants must live within a sensible commute of Barnsley.
