Job Description
Provides a complete credit control service, ensuring that the company income stream is maintained by the timely collection of monies due. Following the Company's credit control procedure when securing payment of debt. Reporting and communicating debt issues to management as required.
Core duties are:
- Debt Chasing
- Resolving debtor queries, disputes, and court action
- Management Reporting
- Credit Checking
- Commercial Contract Support
Education
A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) with a minimum of C grade in English and Mathematics
Ideal candidate
Experience of working in an office environment, IT literate with experience of having used computerised accounting packages. Preferably at least 2 years of credit control experience in a challenging environment.
Key Skills
- Customer Liaison – able to project a good image of the company over the phone with good listening skills, clear speech and a helpful attitude towards customers working with them to remove obstacles preventing payment.
- Negotiation - able to negotiate skilfully in tough situations winning concessions without damaging relationships.
- IT Skills - Comfortable working with Excel, MS Access & Word along with experience of a computerised accounting system.
- Administration - Regular updating of customer information. Knowledge of the county court procedure. Ability to prepare clear reports for management.
General Skills
- Organising – able to orchestrate multiple activities at once, arrange information and files in a structured way and anticipate impact of related activities.
- Team Working - does things to keep up team spirit or morale, is sensitive and responsive to other’s needs.
- Detail Conscious – able to deliver accurate work with all the “Ts” crossed and the “is” dotted.
- Stand Alone – has the self confidence to be able to work with minimum supervision and be trusted to deliver work that is timely and accurate, right 1st time.
Interpersonal Skills
- Communication - good communicator both orally and in writing, providing clear and relevant information to others in a way that they can understand exactly the true message that is being sent. Must also be able to select the right medium to use.
- Active Listening - practices Active Listening, has the patience to hear people out and can accurately sum up what has been said.
- Conflict Resolution - reads conflict situations quickly, can find common ground, get cooperation and resolution with the minimum of fuss.
- Perseverance – pursues with energy and desire to finish, seldom giving up especially in the face of resistance or setbacks.
