Job Description
One of the UK's leading Car Park Management companies, we require a highly motivated, ambitious and career driven Litigation Executive/Solicitor.
You will be expected to manage a mixed caseload of litigation files. You will be comfortable dealing with all procedures involved in the Litigation process.
You will be a qualified solicitor and have one to three years experience of defendant or civil claims. You must be highly competent in handling small claims. Fast and multi-track experience is crucial.
You will already be competent at running your own caseload and you will be comfortable with client contact.
You will develop and maintain professional relationships with members of the general public, suppliers, contractors and clients and Court Employees.
You will work in line with the company's policies and procedures to ensure all tasks are completed effectively and efficiently within agreed timeframes.
Key responsibilities are:
- To manage and supervise the litigation on company debts (predominantly parking tickets) through court proceedings.
- The management of the debt recovery process, liaising with relevant organizations to recover outstanding debts.
- Manage all outstanding debts after appeal stage
- Drafting statements, defences and particulars of claim for attendance of court.
- Lodging interim applications for pre-action disclosure.
- Enforcement proceedings- instruct bailiffs and high court enforcement officers.
- Manage and supervise a small litigation & debt collection team.
- Assess and advise on commercial viability of pursuing company debtors.
- The review of commercial contracts and leases.
- Ensure that personal knowledge of current industry legislation is kept up to date.
- Undertake additional activities as identified by Senior Manager/Director
Knowledge, Skills, Behavour & Experience
- Ability to supervise, manage and lead a small team.
- Ability to use initiative and take ownership of decisions.
- Experience of handling and dealing with civil claims.
- Ability to communicate at all levels.
- Excellent command of English language both verbally and written form, letter writing skills and an experienced telephone manner
- Must possess a working knowledge of contract and trespass law.
- Hold a relevant degree and/or qualification.
