Job Description
Vacancy for a .NET Software Developer
Our client is a leading supplier of interactive public information systems working closely with Local Authorities all over the UK. They are in the process of expanding there operation and have a vacancy for a .NET Software Developer.
Working from the Coventry offices and reporting to the Technical Director, the position will involve working in a small, close knit team engaged in the maintenance of existing systems and production of new services and applications. This role would suit a computing graduate who is familiar with the Microsoft development platform.
Roles and responsibilities are:
- To develop software in accordance to specifications provided
- Keep internal progress systems up-to-date
- Fix any serious anomalies within own work regardless of other commitments.
- Participate in and contribute to the development of new and existing software and database systems.
Essential skills required for this role are:
- Some commercial experience in a similar role
- A working knowledge of either C# or VB.NET. (If C#, a willingness to learn VB and vice versa)
- A working knowledge of .NET Framework including ASP.NET and associated technologies
- A working knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript and associated technologies
- A working knowledge MSSQL (T-SQL)
- Strong oral and written English skills. Ability to effectively communicate with the team is essential.
Desirable skills required for this role are:
- A formal software development qualification
- An artistic flair with aptitude in art and/or graphic design
- Some knowledge of VB6, Access DB and Classic ASP
- An understanding of basic IT hardware
- Familiarity with Microsoft operating systems, from Windows 2000 to Windows 7
- An understanding of networking and network infrastructure.
To integrate into the company resource structure, the successful candidate may also be required to:
- Liaise with customers with regard to software projects
- Attend off-site meetings with managers and customers.
- Provide a technical resource to design and manufacture
- Carry out housekeeping tasks on IT infrastructure
This is a permanent position and will attract a salary of between £24,000 and £26,000 per annum dependent upon experience
