Job Description

Manual Machining Operative - Turner

Summary

 Our client is a provider of high pressure gas containment solutions for global energy and defence markets. Due to increased business demand they are looking to recruit an experienced individual to the position in the Assembly and Build Area of the business.

• Permanent Position
• Shift pattern currently days: 6:30am – 4:15pm Monday – Thursday. Looking forward there will be a requirement for shifts. Afters: 4:15pm – 2am Monday – Thursday
• All new operatives will start on this pay grade 2 ; the company operates a pay scale related to key skills ranging from 2 – 4 thus opportunity for pay enhancements is available.
• Current rates of pay: Grade 2 - £8:31
• 23 days holiday, including bank holidays. Warehouse currently working fixed shut down periods.

Key Skills

• Manual turner with excellent working knowledge of the machining of medium to heavy engineering components
• Familiarity with a range of machines, Broadbent, Crawford.
• CNC experience would be an advantage but not prerequisite
• Ability to work milling machines would be an advantage
• To work under minimum of supervision
• To be able to read and understand customer drawings and machine components to drawing requirements.
• Measure and record all necessary dimensions.
• To load and unload machinery and to set machinery.
• Swarf out machines when necessary.
• Comply with all safety instructions and rules.
• Keen eye and attention for detail.
• Experience in working to close tolerance.
• Flexible and adaptable.
• Ambitious, self-motivated strong personality.
• Ability to work under own initiative
• Have a can-do attitude and a team player.

Desirable skills/Requirements

• Current counter balance fork lift licence.
• Current overhead crane licence.
• Full clean driving license with own transport.
• Excellent time and attendance record.
• Strong supporting CV showing relevant experience, stability and growth.
